A School of Dolphins: Peter McFinn at Tillydrone Library
2184 Proud of diversity at St Peter's, our dolphin is inspired by the Gospel Values we aim to mirror - trust, respect, honesty, generosity, tolerance and forgiveness. Each individual in St Peter's has added their fingerprint and the prints were turned into fish because St Peter was a fisherman!

3168 An Adelphi Series postcard showing the wives of fisherman in Aberdeen selling fish in The Green.
The postcard was lent to Aberdeen City Libraries so that we could create a digital copy for public use. Torry
3588 This image was taken at the same location as image GN12_04, but at a different time interval based on the left drifter having their sail down and the row boats presence on the right.
Here we see the Torry Harbour, mid stream. The photograph was taken facing south west, possibly in front of the fish curing yards on the Esplanade.
One of the moored sailing drifters appears to have the name "William Main" on the front bow. William Main was a fisherman for the Walker Steam Fishing Co., who drowned on the 2nd December 1915.
Mariner's Almanacs for the following year are not available, but the name of the boat, at the same location William Main worked on the South Esplanade East, suggests a possible commemoration to him.
From the following information, it can be assumed the photo dates from around 1916. |
