Mannie in the Green
This well was erected in the Castlegate in 1706 in connection with the first regular water supply in Aberdeen.

In 1852, it was removed to this site in the Green, where it remained until 1958. It was removed from the Green as it was obstructing traffic. It subsequently spent time being stored at Cattofield Reservoir and in Provost Skene House.

It was restored and re-erected in the Castlegate in 1972. This redevelopment of the area in front of the Athenaeum also saw introduction of plainstanes beneath the well. See Cuthbert Graham's article in the Press & Journal of 8th January 1972, page 5, for more details.
