Broadside printing of a poem describing a visit to see a performance of the Wizard of the North, John Henry Anderson (1814-1874) in Glasgow.
Humphrey Henkeckle was a pseudonym of poet Alexander Rodger (1784-1846). This poem was earlier printed in the
Dundee Courier
newspaper of 6th January 1846, page 3. This Aberdeen printing by W. Bennet includes a dating of 1848.
Text along its illustrated border indicates it may have been produced to advertise performances of Professor Anderson. The magician toured the north of Scotland in 1849, including a week long stay at the Music Hall on Aberdeen's Market Street from 9th October 1849.
