Old Machar Cathedral, Aberdeen
A circa 1909 postcard showing Old Machar Cathedral. This church is more commonly known as St. Machar's Cathedral.

The cathedral is a long standing landmark in Old Aberdeen situated above Seaton Park. A local folk story concerning its location states that God instructed St. Machar to build a church where the river (River Don) bends into the shape of the bishop's crosier (staff).

This postcard copy was sent on 17th July 1909, using a King Edward VII stamp, to a Miss Jeannie Beaton in the Rothienorman area of Aberdeenshire.

The card was published by PWML Vello Postcards and uses a red and white colour scheme for its image of the venerable cathedral.
