Treasures from our Collections - February 2017
Our first treasure of the month, The Aberdeen Intelligencer newspaper, was an early challenger to the dominance of the Aberdeen Journal. First published on 3 October 1752 by Francis Douglas and William Murray, the paper was a then supporter of the Jacobite cause.

Our next treasure is the library's collection of Aberdeen Grammar Art Club Sketch Books. They date from the 1920s and serve as an artistic and historical record of local scenes and buildings.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, we next return to our historic postcard collection. This month we highlight our four Kissing Postcards - combining a general view of the town of Burghead with messages of romance and friendship.

The penultimate treasure of the month is our Local Fiction Collection - a wide array of literary works by authors from the area and works concerning the area.

The final treasure is the library's two books by leading light of the Gothic Revival, A.W.N. Pugin. Take a look at these rare and beautifully illustrated volumes and learn about the medieval style that swept Victorian society.
