A portrait of James Alexander Bell, the City Electrical Engineer for Aberdeen in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Bell directed the electrification of the trams and was key in the creation of the Dee Village power station. He reported on the necessity of constructing the new generating station and tram depot to the Gas and Electric Lighting Committee convened by Councillor George Kemp in December 1899.
