The shown bathroom is one of five added to the department store type shop as part of a major redevelopment that opened to the public on 12th September 1929.

A newspaper advert for the expansion that featured in the Press & Journal of 11th September 1929, page 12, states that they had added "Five elaborately equipped Bathrooms, with Shower and Spray Baths, where Ladies and Gentlemen can have a Bath at a Charge of One Schilling."

This photograph was one of a number of the expanded premises that featured in the Press & Journal newspaper of 12th September 1929, page 3.
