Title
Treasures from our Collections - October 2015
Description
In July 2017 Aberdeen City Libraries will celebrate 125 years since the Central Library opened to the public. Each month, we are unveiling five treasures from our varied collections - some of which have never before been on public display! October treasures Treasures on display in October include the Egyptian Book of the Dead and The Illustrated London News, the latter linking to our on-going commemoration of the Spanish Civil War. This year's Aberdeen film festival is taking place from October 23-27 so we have also chosen to show an excellent souvenir brochure from the opening of one of the city's greatest ever cinemas - The Capitol. Lastly, learn about the peculiar bygone ways of the Aberdeen Central Library with our treasure from the library archive and, to celebrate National Poetry Day on 8 October 2015, take a look at a selection of our early printed chapbooks. If you have any questions or comments about the exhibition please get in touch at localstudies@aberdeencity.gov.uk
