Title
Treasures from our Collections - September 2015
Description
In July 2017 Aberdeen City Libraries will celebrate 125 years since the Central Library opened to the public on Rosemount Viaduct. As part of the celebrations, the Library and Information Service are offering unique access to items in our archives and collections - some of which have never before been on public display. The Treasures from our Collections exhibition features items dating back to the 17th Century which reflect the cultural heritage of Aberdeen. Between July 2015 and July 2017, we will display five new items every month in the Central Library including pictorials and photographs, historic maps and plans and a selection of beautifully illustrated books. We are also making the exhibition permanently available on the Silver City Vault. Each month we will upload more of the treasures for everyone to enjoy. September treasures: the Sixties! This month's treasures are linked to the theme of the Sixties in Aberdeen. They feature a famous typhoid pamphlet, a colourful plan of the tramway routes in Aberdeen, an item relating to the library's past, What's On in Aberdeen Guides from the Sixties and a glance at our oil and gas collection. If you have any questions or comments about the exhibition please get in touch at localstudies@aberdeencity.gov.uk
