Footdee
2528 A George Washington Wilson image of Footdee (Fittie) with whale bone arches visible in gardens. The photograph was taken around 1859. The bones were a relic of when Aberdeen was an important whale fishing port.
This photograph is used to illustrate an article about Messrs. Hall, Russell & Co. in the 1907 book Aberdeen To-day. The caption, on page 178, reads: "The Old Waterside of Footdee, where Messrs. Hall, Russell & Co's. Shipbuilding Yard now stands." |
