St. Nicholas Street looking north. At the right is seen the empty pedestal where the marble statue of Queen Victoria stood until 1888 when it was removed to the vestibule of the Town House. A bronze statue was erected in its place in 1893. A horse-drawn tram is seen in the centre of the street.

This photograph was taken around 1890. Fyfe and Co., hatters, hosiers and glovers can be seen occupying the right corner building.
