A portrait of Dr Charles Mitchell (1820 - 22 August 1895). The Mitchell Tower and Hall of Marischal College are named after him. He was a Aberdeen born engineer and shipbuilder who founded major shipyards on the Tyne. Mitchell became a public benefactor who funded many notable buildings.
