Trawlers leaving Aberdeen Harbour
Trawlers leaving Aberdeen Harbour. The white building seen behind the sails is the RoundHouse, the Harbour Masters Office.

For the Silver City Vault user Ed Fowler, "[to] describe these vessels as trawlers is a misnomer as they are of the Lugger type herring boats and not used for trawl nets which arrived with Steam Trawlers. The vessel in the foreground is a Fifie. The Fifie's main features were the vertical stem and stern. The mizzen in the Fifie was placed so far amidships as not to need an outrigged boom. Fifie's built from 1860 onwards were all decked"
