A George Washington Wilson portrait of John Henry Anderson (1814-1874), better known as "The Great Wizard of the North." Anderson, born at Craigmile, Kincardine, was the foremost Scottish magician of the 19th century and achieved considerable world renown. Harry Houdini called him "unique in the annals of magic as a doer of daring things." He is buried in the graveyard of St. Nicholas Kirk in central Aberdeen.
