Description
Engraving of the Market Cross (Mercat Cross), Castlegate at the time when it was in use as a Post Office. From an engraving by J. Swan of Glasgow, based on a drawing by George Smith, architect of Aberdeen dated 1822. The Market Cross opened as a Post Office on 10 April of that year, with Alexander Dingwall as Postmaster.
