St. Nicholas Street looking north. Note the presence of the later statue of Queen Victoria that was installed in 1893.

It replaced a statue of a younger Victoria, erected in 1866, that began to show signs of deterioration and so was moved to the safety of inside the Town House in 1888.

This later statue of Victoria was subsequently moved to Queen's Cross in 1964.
