Victoria Lodging House
Victoria Lodging House. Provost Skene's House, Broad Street. Dating from 1545, Provost Skene's House, also known as Cumberland House, after the Duke of Cumberland who stayed there in 1746. In the 19th century it was known as the Victoria Lodging House. It was in danger of demolition, but for the timely intervention of the Queen Mother in 1938. It was restored after the war.
