The Tolbooth and Market Cross. The Tolbooth, once the city prison was built in 1615, architect Thomas Watson. It was extended in 1627 with the erection of the original spire. The present clock dates from 1817. The Town House built between 1868-74 was designed by Peddie & Kinnear, Edinburgh.
