Girdleness Lighthouse
The Commissioners of the Northern Lighthouses were responsible for the erection of Girdleness Lighthouse. It was designed by their engineer Robert Stevenson and building commenced in 1831. The lighthouse came into use as a permanent light station on 15th October 1833.
