Union Terrace Gardens
A stereostopic card by Underwood & Underwood showing Union Terrace Gardens. The information accompanying this attractive image appears to confuse the Free South Church (St Mark's) with the library:

"That imposing granite building with the great dome and the pillared porch is the Free Library, one of the best in Scotland. Close by the Library is the Free South Church."

Underwood & Underwood were an international company, founded in Kansas, that produced a vast number of views every year. It is therefore understandable if they included occasional small errors.

The image is prior to the construction of His Majesty's Theatre in 1906. Woolmanhill Royal Infirmary can be seen in the background.
