Treasures from our Collections - March 2017
In celebration of International Women's Day and the ongoing struggle for gender equality our first treasure takes a look at the development of attitudes concerning women in society as elaborated in an interesting selection of books from our historic reference collection.

Our next treasure is a charming album of photographs documenting life at Newhills Convalescent Home and Sanatorium in the 1930s.

In 1871 the sixth child of Queen Victoria, Princess Louise, married the Marquis of Lorne. Examine our collection of local posters to see how Aberdeen celebrated this royal occasion.

The fourth treasure of this month returns to the subject of women's rights as we showcase our printed material relating to the monumental struggle for equal suffrage.

In 1881 every pupil at Woodside School received an Anderson Library Medal to mark the inauguration of the Woodside Library and the Scholar's Library. Our final treasure is one of these small pieces of local history. Check out one of the interactive screens in our libraries for the full story of Woodside's Anderson Library.
