2157 Inspiration came from both the dolphin project workshop we received and the children's wish to involve the Commonwealth Games theme this summer. The children also liked the idea of the languages because several of the children were born outside of Scotland. 2171 Kintore Primary School has a number of connections with Africa. In the past Kintore Primary has raised money to build a kitchen, a teacher has spent a summer in Uganda and another is spending this summer in Rwanda - both helping local teachers. 2176 Primary six at Mill O' Forest worked together to plan, design and create our dolphin. We wanted our dolphin to represent our school, as well as highlighting issues including conservation and captivity. 2185 Our dolphin is designed around Magic Mouth language therapy which supports children with Specific Language Impairment. It's a fun strategy we teach children.
All the red sounds on Magic are lip sounds because lips are red.
All the blue sounds on Magic are made using your pointy tongue.
All yellow sounds on Magic are made at the back of our tongue.
All the green sounds are vowels.
Being able to listen to one sound at a time and being able to explain where it is made is an important skill for helping children to achieve clearer speech and is a foundation skill for literacy. |
