Artist A.J. Murray, 1898. The early offices of the Aberdeen Saving Bank are shown on the right of the image. This building was previously the home of Baillie Alexander Galen.

The bank was founded in 1815 and its first office was in a room in the Poor's Hospital. In 1858 it moved to larger premises on Exchange Street.

The gateway to Shepherd's Court, 21 Guestrow, can be seen towards the centre of the image on the right.
