A portrait of William Dyce, R.A. (1806-1864). He was a nationally successful painter and educationalist. Dyce was the son of William Dyce, a lecturer of medicine at Marischal College, and Margaret Chalmers. Born at 48 Marischal Street, Aberdeen, he was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and Marischal College.
