A portrait of Lord Provost William Henderson (1826 -. He served as Provost of Aberdeen from 1886 to 1888. Henderson was initially apprenticed with the North of Scotland Bank before in 1850 becoming a partner in George Thompson and Co., shipowners. He lived in Devanha House, which he acquired in 1857. In addition to being Provost, Henderson was also an elected Harbour Commissioner and president of the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce.
