Historic Photographs Details
The Pleasure Park at Aberdeen Beach. The famous Scenic Railway is at the left of the photograph. It was built by an amusement entrepreneur from Manchester called John Henry Iles and towered to 100 feet. Iles was involved in a number of amusement parks around Britain and during a visit to New York he obtained the European rights to the design of the latest roller coasters. The Scenic Railway in Aberdeen was erected in 1929. It was damaged by fire in December 1940 and subsequently demolished.
